About The Book
When Canadian photographer Angela Boehm was growing up in rural Saskatchewan, long, cold winters were a constant and enduring part of her youth. The experience of deep winter, the silence and heaviness, the solitude in nature left her with lasting, deep memories. In 2021, she began photographing snowstorms in Saskatchewan and set herself the self-imposed rule of only working at minus 30 degrees Celsius or colder. With these pictures, she preserves her experience of winter, a season that seems to be slowly changing. In 2023, the minus 30 environment she sought to preserve did not reappear… Publisher’s Info

About The Artist
Angela Boehm is a Canadian artist living and working in Calgary, Alberta. Her practice is inspired by the inevitability of mortality, highlighting the rhythms of nature and the intangible qualities of memory. Boehm uses photography to build visual stories for books and installations. Boehm’s work has been featured at Art Toronto, Contemporary Calgary, and the London Photo Festival. She is the recipient of the London Photo Festival Landscape Award (London, UK), the Exposure Festival Emerging Photographer Award, and the Focus Festival’s Landscape Award.

About The Publisher
Angelika and Markus Hartmann founded the publishing house in 2016 and since then they have been carefully expanding it. Before that, both of them had been active in various publishing houses and other cultural institutions since the early 1990s. In 2021 and again in 2023, Hartmann Books won the German Publishers Award.
